Coaching Approaches & Methods

I work with clients who are ready to take charge of their career, whether that’s about changing careers, getting promoted, increasing their leadership skills or creating a better life balance.

Most of my clients are in established careers, but at the point where they feel either dissatisfied, unfulfilled or burned out. Others are happy with their job, but ready for the next step in their career.

Ultimately, it’s about thriving in life. We spend so much time at work that we better make sure that it becomes an exciting and fulfilling part of it, not just a means to pay the bill.  Life is too short to waste it in a job that we do not enjoy.

The key themes that I coach my clients on fall into the following main categories:

1. Career Planning

Discover what career or business would be the best fit for you

Plan your next career move with confidence

Understand your unique skills and strengths

Create more purpose and meaning in your career

2. Career Progression

Get promoted and increase your salary

Create a strong and recognisable professional brand

Improve your communication skills

Enhance your productivity and effectiveness

2. Leadership and Influence

Develop and enhance your leadership potential

Become more effective as a leader or people manager

Gain respect and gravitas

Improve your confidence

4. Resilience & Wellbeing

Create a better work-life balance

Learn to say no and establish healthy boundaries

Delegate tasks more effectively

Find fulfilment and joy in your professional life

5. Conflict Resolution & Stakeholder Management

Manage your boss and workplace relationships

Handle conflicts more effectively

Develop strategies for managing your impact on others

Improve stakeholder management

Whilst most people come to me to be coached on career issues, we are not limited to talking about work. Often my clients also bring their personal goals and challenges into our sessions. This is welcome because these themes are often interrelated. Ultimately, I don’t coach a problem, I coach a person.  Whether we talk about your work or personal life, it’s always about helping you understand what you want and how to get there by increasing your personal effectiveness.

How I work

I offer free Discovery Calls and Trial Coaching Sessions so that you can find out more about me and how I work before you commit to a coaching package.

If you then decide to embark on a coaching journey with me, we will start by agreeing on measures of success.  I will ask you what exactly you would like to be different by the end of our work so that we can create a journey that moves you towards your own chosen goals step-by-step.

Over a series of sessions, we will then work through your goals and challenges, and create a strategy and a plan with practical, simple steps for you to take between sessions.

My integrated coaching style is action-orientated and combines traditional coaching processes with a wide range of tools from various other disciplines, including  Enneagram Coaching, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Business Coaching, Gestalt Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Mindfulness. Career coaching often works best when I provide a mixture of coaching, mentoring and education.  We can agree on the style that works best for you.

You will get access to my online coaching platform where I will share content, such as videos, psychometric assessments and worksheets to support your journey.  This is also where we can track your goals and, if you like, send you regular reminders.

This journey is for people who are ready to accept accountability for their own lives and change their current reality. In the course of the process, you may not only hit your specific goals, you may also find that your perception of yourself and the world around you changes dramatically and opens you up to new options and resources.

I coach clients in any country and time zone either face-to-face in London or via Zoom video calls

About

I am an ex-lawyer providing Executive, Career and Life Coaching. Most of my clients are professionals at a point where they are ready to up their game and create deeper fulfilment and greater success both in career and life. I support them with their career planning, leadership skills and personal effectiveness.

I am German-born and have been living in the UK since 1995.

Before I became a coach, I worked as a lawyer for city firm Ashurst and then as the manager of a commercial contracts team for retail bank Santander.

I have been fascinated by the human mind and personal growth since my teenage years. It “just” took me 20 years to figure out that this could be a career for me! A serious health crisis that made me housebound for nearly two years shook me up and gave me the clarity that I wanted to break out of the golden cage of corporate life. I established what I really want from life: to have deep meaningful conversations with people like you to help them better understand themselves and create amazing new outcomes for their lives. I came to this realisation using the same tools that I now offer my coaching clients.

I am also the author of the career coaching book, Falling in Love With Your Job.

Having worked six years at law firm Ashurst and nine years at Santander, I understand the challenges and opportunities in high performance environments.

Over the past 10 years, I have been working with a diverse portfolio of clients, from solo entrepreneurs to executives. My clients value the clarity and structure I bring to their challenges, combined with empathy and my own experience from working in the corporate world.

I have a 5-Star Google Review ranking and invest a large amount of my coaching income in ongoing annual training and supervision.

My 20 years of working in law and financial services mean that I am well familiar with business realities across a wide range of industries, including the challenges and opportunities of working in private practice and large corporations.

My clients value the clarity and structure I bring to their challenges, combined with empathy and my own experience from working in the corporate world.

I am also the author of the career self-coaching book "Falling in love with your job - How to create more excitement and fulfilment in your career".
