Hello! I am Dr. Julian D. Michels, a psychologist specializing in imagination, dreams, and creativity. I am currently a digital nomad and have been traveling in India, Asia, and Africa for the last 4 years.
My passion is helping people understand their inner depths. I believe that a part of us is always "dreaming" - this is the part that is always giving us surprising visions, emotions, and intuitions. It is both the source of our creativity and private genius, and is also often a source of the unique symptoms, forces, obsessions, and so on with which we all have to cope.
I help clients develop a more knowledgeable and productive relationship with these "inner depths" - whether those clients are young adults trying to understand life and their own natures, or the CEOs of companies looking to unlock greater powers of creative thought and intuition, or elders looking to deepen their understanding of death and loss, and so on.
In all cases, clients can expect me to help them access and work with their inner soul, the subterranean power-plant of deeper being from which passion, inspiration, genius, and self-knowledge all arise.
About
I completed my PhD with California Institute of Integral Studies in 2022. My specialties are in ancient and contemporary traditions of depth, mysticism, and ritual from around the world. The psychology I follow could be termed "post-Jungian" depth psychology, and I am particularly steeped in the post-Jungian approaches of psychologist James Hillman.
My last several years of travel have been an immersion in world traditions, stretching from the entheogenic Shamanism of the Americas to the Yogic practices and Tibetan Buddhist teachings of India, and beyond. These studies, combined my formal psychological education and my training in Hakomi approaches to deep inquiry, together form the basis for my own approach to deepening creativity, opening authentic connection with self and others, and learning to live a life inspired by one's unique genius within.
