Coaching Approaches & Methods
I work with dads who are committed to growing and developing stronger connections with their children. As a father of three and a former classroom teacher, I know the critical role that parents have on the life of children. I also realize that the challenges facing our children are bigger than anything we have ever faced as kids. Some of the parent models that we grew up with don't work. I am committed to walking alongside and guiding dads who are committed to doing the difficult work of sifting through their own childhood experiences as they decide what they want to give to their children and what they need to leave in the past.
I have been working with kids and families for the past 30 years. While getting my undergraduate in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood I spent my summers working at youth camps in Wyoming.
In the spring of 1999 I moved to Oregon to student teach (and as it turned out to meet my future wife.)
After a short stint at Nike working in their child development center I decided to go into public education.I began teaching 4th and 5th graders in 2001. Over the next thirteen years I taught Kindergarten, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade.
In 2008 I completed my Masters of Education and in 2013 my Administrators License. Leaving the classroom, I worked building wide at two different schools helping teachers and parents as a Student Management Specialist grades K-8.
After my father passed away, I decided to step away from public education and I spent the next two years writing a book on fatherhood. I have loved the time away but I miss working with families and supporting parents.
Fathergood Coaching allows me to return the work that is closest to my heart, helping dads and moms with what I believe is the most important work of their life.
